My auto trans in my 325ic is slipping....when i step on the gas the engine roars but the power isn't being transferred to the wheels. BMW tech who does work on the side says the trans is shot. I plan on putting in a 5 speed instead of going back to auto. What's the best 5 speed transmission available for an 88 325i convertible? What parts should i buy new...ie..slave and master cyclinder....driveshaft? pressure plate? What parts can i buy used?

Getrag 260 found in all 325's. Get one from a 87-91 325i and use a new clutch kit, driveshaft, slave cylinder and guibo. You can use a used flywheel from a manual trans car."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Go to junkyard, get pedal cluster ,clutch switch + wiring ,etc. Get a 87 or later gearbox if you can. I converted my '89 , it is a totally different car now.
Ive got a single mass flywheel if you need one. $60 shipped.Lorin
