      The day is finally here.

Welp, so after many hours (noob) and too many calls to Pelican for more stuff and WAY more than the cost of the throwout bearing (which is what actually failed), I...

Have a new clutch, all related fixins, rebuilt shifter, guibo, am getting an awesome cat back installed (hopefully awesome), a lightened flywheel and lot-o-grease under my nails.

Yup, next time I am just going to pull the entire motor and trans...

Got it off the jackstands, double checked everything, connected the battery, put in the key and. Vrooom!

It sounds kinda awesome with no exhaust from the cat back. Then realized my radiator had shifted, fixed that, topped the coolant back up, hopefully no bubbles, will sort if necessary though. Watched the manifold smoke for awhile while it warmed then put the clutch in. Smooth as butta, clicked the shifter into reverse (mmm) and slid out of the shop like a gliding kayak across a still pond.

Man it feels good to do a job right...

the guy with the M5... is he involved with boy scouts? I might have seen him at VIR last october and spoke with him briefly.

Looks like you're getting the hang of it and ready to throw everything back in the car!

If you need to get the fly wheel off, use one of the bolts for the pressure plate on the edge of the flywheel and tie it with wire to a bolt on the motor that would hold on the bell housing. Keeps you from needing any special tool besides a foot or 2 of 16ga wire wrapped around a few times.

          M5

Yes indeed. That is Travis Payne. He is the owner of the shop and all the other cars seen in this thread. Great guy, Chevy and BMW nut.

ps. That M5 is a blast, has had a mild over-bore.
