I've drifted and power shfited on a GR260 with 300whp/wtq for about a year and never killed it. I put 400whp through a ZF for about a year without killing it. I'm going back to a GR260 and fully don't expect to crap it out.

These are 20 year old transmissions we are talking about. Rebuilding isn't a bad option.

        Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Yeah I would take a rebuilt G260 over a ZF anyday. I don't know if anyone even rebuilds ZF trans and if they do it's probably more expensive right?

ZF units are completely rebuildable. IF you research the modern supply chain you will see that post 2005 some families of BMW gearboxes are not Getrag or ZF; they are Hybrid

Some Modern 6mt boxes (2005+) are made from ZF AND Getrag parts, final assembly at ZF OR Getrag. Chicken / egg / chicken anyone?

No more reason for Getrag and ZF to compete when they can just team up and be more efficient (for stockholders).

I would prefer the ZF 5 speed units and 6 speed units over getrag g260/420 for a street car. bearing style is a bit quieter, more modern street box.

the G420 is undoubtedly designed a bit stronger, its got the same imput shaft size as e31 V12 and e39 M5.

the G420 is not rebuildable - the modern e46 330i style speeds are. G420 design is from 1990, the other is for a smaller car with inline 6 engine- this 6 speed design started in model year 2004/5. I wonder which one is more efficient...

            E60 parts or e31...
            OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

            Euro e46 2005/6 320d 6mt gearbox into E30 with M20 hardy and beck 1985 327s engine

That's weird cause I have a low comp 2.7i so idk how mine blew up so quick but regardless where do you go to find parts to rebuild it I heard the shift forks are the weak point in these with that being said do they make aftermarket parts of so where can I go to get parts for the rebuild thanks alot!
