There is no "best" diff, it's all about personal preference and compromises. What characteristics do you appreciate most and what is your driving style/driving conditions?

If you don't feel like answering that, BMW's factory setups are generally a pretty good choice.

            2.65 final drive + 7 speed SMGIII transmission + S85 5000cc V10 engine is the "best" ratio. :P

otherwise what is in the car OEM is pretty pretty good pairing :)

              i have a 2.8 stroker with a schrick 272 degree cam.
My diff currently allows me to do 120Kph in 2nd gear.
I wan't to wheel spin easier in second.

what is your current final drive 3.73 ? OEM m20b25 is 3.73 stateside, if you are using G260 gearbox a 3.91 ratio would probably be the next bump up :)

                      i dont know about a 4.10 or 4.44

this is not my specialty at all but my 2 cents is a 3.73 should be sufficient. and u wont be waay up in the rpm's at 80mph

you say you want to spin tires more in 2nd..do u mean in a straight line, like chirp 2nd?
cause a 3.73 in my stock/weak un touched m20 will slide in 2nd allll day. a 2.8 shouldnt have problems. whats your rear tire size/how sticky are your tires?
m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.

I'm not sure what ratio i have but i know it's not for acceleration.
I have Toyo T1R's and they are very sticky i think that is the problem with wheel spin anyway.

Hows your fuel ecconomy with a 3.73?

I have 3.73 gears with a g260 and a stock m20b25. My car will do a little less than 60 mph in second (roughly 100Kph), so I doubt you have a 3.73, I'd say more like a 2.93. That's just my guess.
