tranny swap

My 2nd and 4th gear went out..so I'm gonna want to get a new tranny. Question: will I be able to fit any other e30 trannys into my 84 318i? or is it strictly 318i tranny? And can anyone tell me or give me a link where i can find a cheap rebuilt tranny? Thanks alot.

I'm not a 100% sure but me thinks the 318i uses the Getrag 240 as opposed to the Getrag 260 used in 325e/i.

If this is correct you will probably have to pull a Getrag 240 from another E30 318i.

You will want an 84-85 318i tranny only.
