Just picked up a G260 from a 535i, supposedly with 80k on it. My bad for not checking the part number before I paid the money for it, but I guess "yes, it will fit your e30" was good enough for me. Seller just said it was from an e28, didn't say it was a 535 until after I bought it. If it was from a 525 then it would known-good.
I know there's another thread here asking the same question from three years ago, where one of the guys responded with:
I need more than an "afaik" before I go through the trouble of pulling my old one out and finding out that the new one won't fit.
