I have a an 86 325es with 232k on the odo when it stopped within the past year. The clutch is all original.
My problem is that when I take my foot off the pedal it does not spring back fast at all. I drove my buddys e36 today and it springs back very fast, mine has absolutely no spring back. My clutch also feels like it is slipping, in first and second it is fine once I hit third gear and start to get up in the rpm's the clutch starts to slip. It will rev without putting any power down, then if I let off the throttle it catches. So if I drive slowly there is no problem. but any sort of aggressive driving will cause the clutch to slip.
Are the two problems related? Is a slow releasing clutch pedal the result of a old and worn out slipping clutch?
I read it may be the slave or master cylinder?
Any help is appreciated. I will probably order parts within the next couple weeks and do not want to order the wrong parts! or not enough.
thanks
