    Driveline shudders when clutch depressed

    Hey,

Not sure if this is normal (definitely not compared to my e46 and other bmws that I've driven), but my e30 shudders noticeably (I can feel almost feel the diff moving around) when I depress the clutch, usually on the 1-2 shift. I've noticed this since I first bought the car, when it was completely stock.

    My setup:

The guibo and CSB have been recently changed by Ryan G. Powerflex subframe bushings in the back. Silence (r3v member) nylon engine mounts up front, with bimmerworld heavier duty rubber trans mounts.

The diff is a single ear medium case 4.10. The diff bushing is solid, looked to be in OK/fine shape when I put it in the car 2 years ago. Engine is a stock m20b25 so not putting out a huge amount of power.

Any ideas for the reason for the car's shuddering? Driveshaft maybe? Or should I look into a stiffer diff bushing?

    Thanks.

Stock flywheel? I heard you can get this kind of chatter if you go with a light alum. flywheel.
Maybe the shuddering is occurring because everything is so stiff. If it were a softer rubber, more vibration would be absorbed.

its just a guess but my jeep had similar issues when i bought it. Turned out to be the pilot bearing in the flywheel. Every time i stepped on the clutch i got a heavy shudder or vibration. After a lot of searching i ended up removing the trans and found that the previous owner installed a new clutch but forgot to install a pilot bearing(he was not a mechanic). When i would step on the clutch the absence of a pilot bearing would allow the trans input shaft to wobble around violently. I don't know if thats the problem with yours but if everything else checks out you could check that. Good luck

worn U joints in the driveline or worn CV joints in the rear axels.

Have a similar problem, I even feel vibration when car is stopped and I put clutch to the floor. Even happens when shifting thru the gears, vibration felt on clutch pedal and shifter. Possible TOB?

Shudder in the clutch pedal could be a warped clutch. I had this issue with my M20/G260, but it also had a lot of backlash in the lower gears.
