        First, put fresh fluid in the trans. That's a no brainer. Pop the shifter boots up and make sure the lever isn't hitting the sheet metal of the trans tunnel. Also, make sure you have the shifter tee on the trans in the correct orientation. It can be installed 180 degrees flipped.
