    Z4 selector rod rubbing DS

I'm having an issue with my Z4 3.0 lever barely touching the drive shaft on m20B25 with G260. I don't have a vibration damper and it does not seem to contact the flex disc at all but it does make a metal scraping sound and there are scratches on the drive shaft below the lever. I believe it only makes contact in 1st and 2nd? maybe 4th as well. I searched around but I couldn't find a good answer. Is it my shift joint that needs to be a different style? The support bearing for the carrier is bolted in the top mounting hole and is brand new so I doubt that is the problem. Thanks. I have a video of selector rod area of the linkage if that would help?

Wow I feel dumb. I meant the shift lever seems to be touching the Drive shaft. not the selector rod.

        Parts compatibility issues here-

You need to locate the pivot point of the shift lever plastic socket upwards.
complete short shift linkage kits like ROGUE etc will have this pivot moved upwards so the shift lever does not contact the driveshaft/guibo/guibo bolts.
some companies make and sell an aftermarket item for this-

        Z4 shift lever was designed for Z4. e30 not = Z4

Z4 and E46 have different chassis designs than E30's. Transmission mounting relation to gearshift terminus is also different, they run different transmission units also.

for my 6mt e30 I had similar issues with some of the very modern shift levers, the e30 body restricts the lever choice with a stock shift carrier.
currently using a e46 sport lever that fits the e30 chassis very well and does not have clearance issues

        OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

        Euro e46 2005/6 320d 6mt gearbox into E30 with M20 hardy and beck 1985 327s engine
