Can U make up the diffrence of 4:27 to 3:73 w/ tires
Ok I'm wondering if I changed my 4:27 diff. w/ a 3:73 could I make up the diffrence of the Final ratio w/ a lower profile tire??? I know its a big change but figured it may be poss.

You can do the math- if you have a 4.27 now and want to run a 3.73 but keep the same basic RPM's in each gear- just figure out what size your current tires are (diameter and/or revs per mile) and find some that are close to the same percentage change as the diff change. Just some quick math (i.e.- could be wrong....) shows that a going from a 4.27 to a 3.73 diff- the new ratio is 87.4% of the old (numerically)- so you'd want to have a tire that changes the same amount. Assuming a 195/65R14 OEM tire has 867 revs per mile (based on tirerack.com)- then you'd need a new tire that has 992 revs per mile (!!) the smallest diameter 14" tire I found in a quick search is a 205/50R14 drag radial which shows only 939 revs per mile- so you might have trouble finding a tire that is small enough.............
Seriously, why not just get a 4.10 ratio diff, you would hardly notice the difference, and they are readily available in both small (4cyl) and medium (6cyl) case sizes.
