Rattle when pressing down on clutch

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did quite a bit of searching (here and Google).

Often I will hear a rattle when I press down on the clutch. It isn't a continuous sound, it makes a short rattling right as the clutch is pressed down. Usually it happens when I am giving it some good gas and go to shift quickly.

Also, when the car is off, if I quickly release the clutch while it's down, I hear a sort of "snap" sound... not sure if this is normal or unrelated to the issue above.

    Any ideas?

random thought: does depress mean press DOWN on clutch or release? Depress sounds like the opposite of press...

    Sounds like throwout bearing noise.

"Press" is the general idea of pushing while "depress" is to push down.

does it only happen only when you're giving some throttle, I believe pilot bearing failure is another likely cause. (I could be mistaken, and I would look into this more yourself)

None the less, when you pull off your whole transmission you should replace pretty much everything there. edit: unless you like pulling off your transmission, then just replace one thing at a time.

I tested it today and yes, it is ONLY when I'm giving throttle. If I let go of gas pedal completely and then press in the clutch, there is no sound. So I will definitely check the pilot bearing. Thanks!
