    Need help choosing different shifter

    Hey guys,

I recently bought a mostly restored 1990 325is. It was converted from Auto to Manual and the previous owner installed a Z3M shifter. While I love the short throw, the effort it takes to shift gears is just too much for me. It was okay at first, but I recently fractured my hand, and every shift hurts. (I also have an E39 M5 with a stock shifter which is very easy).

What can I swap this shifter out for? I still want something sporty, just not something that is so hard to press.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thank you.

try an z3 1.9. short, a little firm but not too much

some people like x3 shifters, but I don't know what the deal is there

I didnt know X3 came in manual ?? lol

The Z3 1.9 is just the regular Z3 shifter or is it an optional Z3 1.9 short shifter?

regular z3 1.9 or E36 M3 shifter is also similar and good upgrades. Most go with the z3 1.9 though and it's already bent like the E30 shifter so it's a direct replacement.

we say 1.9 because that's what a base model z3 is in the US. so yes, it's just a "regular" z3
