M10 trans (240 or 260 I forget)

I have an M10 84 318i with a 5 speed

I forget if its the 240 or 260 gertrag

Question, I havent had it on the track, and its been two years since I moved it. Whats the shift pattern? I found 1-5 but cant remember where revers is. I know its a pull or push to get it into gear.

Question: is there anyway to remove that so it can just go into gear like a normal car?

Reverse is to the left against spring tension and forward. The car has a Getrag 240 transmission.

Sideways pressure to the left against the spring, then forward.

Even in Canada you need to know where reverse is to get a license :-)

the odd part is, that shift pattern is just slightly off from my cement truck.

odd, maybe the MACk and BMW designers were copying each other!!
