how do i get this off

    is this my vibration damper?
    im installing a dssr
i found a thread in e30tech talking about using a 30mm thinwall on the transmission side but why would i need to do that?

I've not seen one like that before, but to get it off the studs will need to be pushed out (and replaced with bolts), the CSB removed, and the balancer slid off.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

+1 The studs will need to be pressed, or hit out. The CSB does not need to be removed however, the cutouts in the vibration damper with allow it to slide over the driveshaft flange

This is a vibration damper right?

the 30mm socket they speak of is for removing the nut that holds the driveshaft flange on the trans output shaft

Tap the studs out with a hammer and then pull the vibration dampener off. You can replace with studs again, or use bolts. I used bolts. Mine looked the exact same.

The torque specs? No I don't, not off the top of my head.

I had same set up. use a large hammer. drive bolts out.
They are knurled so it might take a couple of whacks. Tossed dampener in recycle
I bought new bolts from a fastener supply house. I'm not sure of the part #'s listed

The flex disk bolts are 54mm long if they clamp a vibration damper, and 50mm without. They are grade 10.9, so you won't find them at the corner store.
                    26-11-1-209-498 Hex bolt, M10x50mm 10.9, now 26-11-1-225-054, $2.42/1.94
                    26-11-1-225-744 Hex bolt, M10x54 10.9-PHR 4.68/3.74

Bolts can be reused if they are straight and haven't stretched (check that a new non-locking M10 nut spins freely). The self-locking nuts should always be replaced.
                    07-12-9-964-672 Self-locking hex nut for flex disk and diff, M10, 6@, $0.25

ok got it off didnt have to drop csb just hammer bolts out

                            regarding the damper
my guess is its there to increase rotational mass to help smooth out shifts kinda like a little flywheel
                            thoughts?
