    Gearbox options

I'm currently undertaking a m60 v8 swap already hit my first hurdle. I know of two possible gearbox options which are getrag 420 6spd and the zf 310z 5spd. My question is will the getrag 250 out of the e36 >325i fit the m60 drive shafts aren't an issue as I have a friend, who has a driveshaft shop. I just need to know if the gearbox will bolt up. I've searched for close to 4hrs now. Some people say yes others say no.

No, the v8's have a different bell housing bolt pattern then the 6 cylinders.

Maybe your confusion is coming from the fact that the zf310 was also used on e36 M3 and 328 models. It's important to know that the ZF from those cars is NOT the same as the zf310 from an e34 530i, which is what you'll need for the m60. The front casing / bellhousing has the v8 bolt pattern on the 530i version.

You may want to post questions like this in the V8 subforum for more exposure to people who are familiar with the v8's.
