I just installed a new to me used driveshaft w/ a new CSB into my 87 and everything went great until I went to bolt in the CSB. The mounting ears are too close together and it's off by about a 1/4". Is there a difference in CSB from an early car to a later car? The shaft is off a 89-90 325i.

OP, clean the splines and regrease them before you reassemble the shaft. It makes things much nicer

There are early and late versions of the CSB. The one on the drive shaft you have is the late version and you need the early one.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
