    Weird G260 Leak

Replaced every seal and the little two-bolt plate on top of my 260, but it's still leaking. The fluid is coming from where the two halves of the case meet up. I can't find any other thread like this and have searched with no results. Also, RealOEM shows no gasket of any sort between the two halves. Is a leak from this location common? How am I supposed to fix it?

repairing that leak requires disassembly of the trans, I don't believe there is a paper gasket but rather a liquid gasket. What kind of chassis is that? I see fiberglass where there should be metal. What are you doing over there, something custom?

Liquid gasket? How does that work?

Haha good eyes, but the pic isn't of my car. I have an ancient cell phone with a piss-poor camera, so I grabbed that picture off the net just to show where the leak is coming from.

I tightened the bolts that hold the two halves together earlier today, I'll definitely be watching for any improvement. If not, I'm just going to silicone the whole seam. The leak is only a drip or two every few days. With the help of my 2 foot breaker I was able to tighten every bolt at least an eighth of a turn, so maybe it might actually make a difference.

Tranny manufacturers use a liquid gasket that hardens, it is put on the two halves before assembly. I used some to reseal my front bearing retainer, when I resealed mine. Thats the stuff in the tube there, once it dries it's hard and not really like silicone at all.

Check the top of the transmission around the breather to see if it is wet with oil. It should be dry, but if not the oil may be running back and dripping off the transmission at the seam.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The breather is nice and dry. I think tightening the bolts actually fixed it (I didn't think it would). Thanks for the heads up!

If you ever pull it apart to reseal you must be careful not to use too much flange sealant because you can alter bearing preload on the mainshaft.
