    5 speed swap quetion

yes I did spend time on the search..maybe did it wrong

    gonna help a friend with a 5 speed swap into a 325.
    1) Provided all parts are on hand, it seems like this is a one day shot...true ?

Steve is only missing two things now......
    2) we have a pedal assy form a 318, will it work ?
    3) he wants to switch the diff at the same time...is there a chart someplace that will say what cars had what diff ratio's in them. ( and if lsd's) he drives past lots of pay-n-pull
He does a sheep load of driving in wash, or, ca and arizonia ( short haul driver) so he can chase his parts, just does not have time to crawl under every car in every wrecking yard to find the lsd or ratio he wants

    thanks

It could be a day with two people, but you always forget stuff.

    318 pedals will work.

There are lists out there, search a little. All e30 iS models came with LSDs, mostly 3.73 in manual iS, 4.10 in auto iS, and 2.93 in es. You'll probably want a 3.73...

No mean to hijack to the OP but it should also help out both of us because i'm in the same boat as him but what is the length of a m20 driveshaft? Reason I ask is because I wasn't sure if I pulled the right driveshaft at pick n pull the other day... I know stupid I didn't check -_- it came off a 90 325i. And another thing can I install the pedal assembly with clutch and new brake pedal now just for standby but obviously not attached to anything except brake pedals of course while I wait to get a day off to do the swap?

im not so sure about that...in my years I have pulled apart two 318is that did not have lsd's, both 91's

and of course my ic is not a "is' and it does not have a lsd

of course they could have been switched out by others before they got to me
and my 91 318ic has a a 4.10 in it, was that way when I got it

Your pedals need to match early or late model..
