    getrag 260 re-sealing

so i have installed the new selector shaft seal, detent spring seal, and the output shaft seal. I am at the point of installing the output flange and i read to use locktite 270 on the splines and back of the nut. could i just use locktite 271 instead? they both are high strength and the purpose of it is to seal oil from leaching around the splines and out- so i see no reason why i cant do this. i just want your opinion on this as i would hate to re-do it. (the 271 is already in my possession, so id rather use it than have to go buy some new stuff) i also read that bmw recommended locktite 242 for new trans? or should i not trust that? the 242 is a medium strength locktite.

also, the same for the input shaft seal. should i be using a sealer too? like the 242 or the 271? (both i already have) i read to use locktite 573 due to the slow cure time, but is it needed? or can i just use what i have along with a high strength RTV?

Either 270 or 271 is okay for the output flange. Use blue on the bolts that mount the throwout bearing tube.

      awesome thank you so much.

only problem im having now is getting the input shaft seal housing to come loose. i got the tube thing off (like 4 bolts) but the bigger piece/flange that the seal sits in is really stuck on there. been giving it a few good wraps with the rubber mallet, but its hard being in that small bell-housing.

should i just try to remove the seal separately from it and tap the new one in while the plate/cover is still stuck in the trans and then just seal the bolts i already removed? any tricks to this?

      thanks in advance anyone .

You can replace the seal without removing the carrier.
