    automatic transmission difference -help me

I have a 88 cabio with the 4hp-22 real oem has mine being used till 7/88 after that it is a different 4hp-22 what is the difference the later version is available everywhere but my early version is hard to find I need a replacement but fast and cheap is the later version just updated but directly inter changeable or are there differences that require modifications and yes I know just do the 5 speed swapp but my commute doesn't make that a very good option and this is my daily driver.

The cabrios have a different torque converter which is rated to the weight of the car. The Bentley has a chart
