    4hp22 shifting issues

Before all the "Auto-tragic" jokes start, I am looking for real advice.

My Wifes 86 325e is a near perfect car with th exepion of the trans, when I bought it 3 years ago I bought a trans from a member and had it thrown in, I had all the seals and filters etc changed and my wife fell in love with her first e30.

If you get on it hard it will downshift and bang on the limiter until you lift off the gas. It's done this for 3 years, my wife does not redline the car so that is a minor issue, the bigger issue is that it's slow to up shift lately, you have to let off the gas to get it to shift, I have adjusted the Bowsun cable with no improvement.

My wife is considering a new car if I can't find a resolution soon, losing a near perfect e30 is a crime.

Does anyone have any thoughts ? Again let's keep the auto jokes to a minimum, or another e30 is off to pasture. Lol

This might sound stupid question but...,
check the fluid level, warm, in neutral and sitting on level pavement.
This trans is very temperamental if the fluid level is not perfect!
    just my experience

    BTW: no jokes

late shifts indicate worn out seals at the governor unit. There is not enough pressure to operate hydraulics properly

I'm not 100% clear on the symptoms but I would encourage you to adjust the cables. That changed my shift points noticeably

I will try and adjust them again. It wont let go of 1st or 2nd without totally letting off the gas.
