Airbag pedal box vs non airbag box. Help!

    Hi Guys,

I have an 88 vert with an automatic, that I want to swap a 5 spd into.

I also have a 91 e30 parts car that just so happens to be a manual.

The 88 has an early pedal assembly. The 91 obviosly has the late model airbag pedal assembly.

I tried to take the pedal assembly out of the 91, and noticed its way differnt than the 88's.

So do I absolutly need an early pedal box for the 88, or can I just use the late model box (once I figure out how to remove it)

Or can I just swap the pedals from the airbag car into a non airbag pedal box?

    Thanks!

    Jay

I'm not positive, but I think you can swap just the clutch pedal.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I was told they are interchangeable. Hope it's true because I have pedals out of a non airbag car and mine is (or rather was) a airbag equipped.

Just swap the pedals in and don't worry about the clutch pedal spring assembly if it is different and won't work.

The auto non airbag pedal box won't have the holes to mount the clutch master cylinder.

Just find a complete non airbag stick pedal assembly and swap it in.

That may be true in some cases, but I did not encounter that problem on an 87 325is.
