Clutch engage point is very high (at the end of the pedal trevel) Disk is fine...

Hello all. So what i mean by this, is that when i start the car in order for the clutch to "engage" i need to let the clutch pedal off almost till the very end. And only in the end it starts to engage. I thought it was the disk at first, so i took the tranny out, but the disk is fine. What can it be? Can it be the clutch release bearing?

Also in some cars you can adjust it, is there anyways you can adjust the clutch in e30?

    Thanks

Have you checked the pin that the fork pivots off of?

Part #5 if this shows up

They are made of plastic and wear down, they should be replaced whenever apart.

Any other theories of what it might be?

Don't the springs in the clutch/pressure plate contribute to that as well? If you have it all apart, I'd put in a fresh clutch kit and replace number 5 & 6 from the diagram above.

You don't say what transmission clutch combination you are using, but use a metal washer or two between the slave cylinder and the transmission bellhousing. You probably just have a slightly taller clutch release bearing in there.

Actually will have to try that. Because the new clutch kit came, and there is barely any difference. Maybe like .5mm difference on a disk, probably even less then that.

                      Thanks

It's not your disks that are going, it's likely the pressure plate. That's why it doesn't slip at all, but releases so early/easy.

Comparing it to what? they start out with a bit of a point and tends to wear down round and gets shorter so hopefully you are putting a new one in. it should always be replaced whenever the trans is out, it is a $1.25 part and you wouldn't want to have to pull the trans again just to replace it. 8^)

Or you can upgrade it to a nice bronze one -

Yep, im putting the new one anyways. Thanks for the link btw.

And the pressure plate is fine as well.. Compared it to the one that came with the new kit, and its basically exactly the same, except dirty...

It's not just the physical appearance. You'd need to measure the resistance of the springs on the clutch and pressure plate to tell if they were bad.
