So after being off the road for about 10 years my e30 had to make a jump to dd status. Anyways in low speed corners like in a parking lot some thing is chattering and making noise in the back. I am thinking maybe the diff fluid friction modifier is toast. Anything else you guys would check out. I will do the fluid change right away for good measure. I did open the fill plug and the fluid looked ok and it leaked out some. So its not empty.

sounds like subframe bushings are worn or the rear CV's need to be re-packed with fresh grease.
you don't need friction modifier in these units for them to be quiet; it might chatter when brand new 0 miles but not if its an original unit.OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25
