So I drove off and 20ft later my e30 just stops accelerating. I have an auto tranny d1-4 doesn't move but i can start and rev the engine. Auto tranny the fluid is good and the linkage in the engine bay. I'm stuck in West Covina,ca and would see if anyone can help I'm thinking torque converter or the linkage under the car..

What does it do when you r3v the engine while it's in gear? Do you have reverse? Also, make sure the kickdown cable is tight. We're going to need way more details than what you just gave us. -
It just revs and the car doesn't go in revierse and just checked the shift linkage under the carComment

What's the color of the oil? Are there weird sounds? How was the temperature indicator before everything happened?
I'm sure that a specialist can diagnose whether its the clutches, torque converter or governor that are the culprits, but its likely that one of those gave way. We need more details. Anyway, even if it calls for a rebuild, its salvageable.Comment
