    Shifter hits driveshaft

While engine breaking in second gear my shifter hits the balancer on the drive shaft in my 1991 325i m52 with a g260. Is there any set backs from taking the balancer out and running just a starlight driveshaft off the output flange? I don't want to have a ton of vibrations going on if I get rid of it. All of my trans and motor mount bushings are good and my shifter carrier bushings aren't very bad either.
If you're not going to do it right, please don't take it out on your car!

There is no real downside to removing the balancer
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Yup. Taken them off all my e30's. Not even sure why they were added, but early models never had them from the factory.
