    Differential re-install, PITA

So this is the third or fourth time I've removed/installed one of my various differentials. This time around, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm having a very hard time getting the four top bolts lined up. Please share your tricks. BTW this one has been in before.

I typically start one loosely and use a locating tool to center the others. Sometimes they go right in , others give you a bit of trouble. Good luck

you and your issues with tools going in...

Seriously, though, they just do that sometimes - even when we have them on the trans jack and the car on a lift. Start them very loose and this will give some wiggle room to get the other started. Don't tighten any until they are all in by 3-4 threads. also helps if the mount bolt is NOT in as this will cause the diff to rotate at weird angles.

It is even easier if you replace those bolts with studs before putting the diff back in :)

Finally got it in. It's a breeze once I move on to the half shaft and drive shaft. I really do need to make studs. The plan was to just make alignment pins, but I ended up being rushed. Thanks!
