    You probably had bad bushings - shift carrier, selector rod joint, something. Or a cheap knob :) I love my z4 3.0 and couldn't picture a better fit.

        Guys just a quick question is the M Z roadstar shifter better than Z4 3.0??
        i`m about to order one and wanted to get the best my money can buy!!

        but i`ve now installed a 5 speed ZF box out of a 99 M roadster...anyone with the same setup?? hows it feel??

          I think the Z M lever is the most superior. It's pretty tall and still has the same throw as the Z4 3.0
