    325i driveshaft differences

    I have a 1 226 433 driveshaft from an 87 cabriolet. I would like to put it into my 1989 10/88 325i.

    The 89 325i calls for a 1 226 733 shaft. Anyone know the difference?

Looks like the center support bearing is the same from 9/87 + part # 1 226 723

    Cheers!

Looks like the transmission AND shaft changed after 6/88. The transmission has the bell housing like a 325e (dual reference sensor mounting area.) I'm wondering if there might be a length difference?

It is a small flange shaft BTW.

They will interchange assuming both are 5 speed or both are auto and both use the small guibo.

If the convertible is a 87 model year you'll need to swap to a late model CSB.

I am doing a 5-speed conversion. I think I'm all set since I have the transmission and shaft removed from the same car.

I'm still curious about the difference in the shafts. Looks like the CSB changed in 9/87

        The 5-speed shaft # 1 226 433 ran from 9/87 - 6/88
