Clutch Master or Slave Cylinder Problem

on my e30, my clutch pedal has consistent pressure when I press the pedal down/in but it loses pressure once in and doesn't rebound.

iirc, when my e36 slave died the pedal had no pressure at all. but that was a long while ago.

Which do I need to replace: master or slave cylinder ?

Well, it could be either. The symptoms for either going bad are exactly the same. So just replace both.

I'm about to take the slave cylinder off and test it. At least that's easier than taking out the master cylinder for the time being

Yeah, it's really not that hard to change the master. Just takes a little bit of time. My pedal box broke the other day and had to pull it out and re-weld it. I bet you could replace the master in 1/4 the time.

If there are no leaks at the slave or soft line, the master cylinder is bad. Given the probable age, replace the slave and the soft line along with the master.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I just ordered new slave and master cylinders. Hopefully they should get here in a few days and I can get it back on the road.

              Thanks y'all!
