Thoughts on Guido & CSB Brands

Now that it's time to remove my rear subframe I'm thinking these 2 parts should get done while I'm in there regardless of how they look. I see Febi, Melye and Rein at a reasonable price which can all be OEM VS OE which is of unquestionable quality but several X more expensive.

I'm a no compromise guy, especially with something so essential and will not buy anything "off brand" so just wanted some input.

    TIA

PS I did find a Lemforder Guibo which would be my 1st choice at the moment and I also see replacement OE bearings (without the entire support) which doesn't make much sense since there's rubber in the assembly

Ha. Where would we all be without your shoulder to look over? Nice spelling correction.

After learning that my friendly dealer would be more than 2x the price I ordered the Lemforder frankenguido and febi CSB for all of $84. Of course despite thinking they would be a WIAIT job, it really seems to be a shitload more work to pull the drive shaft.

Do I in fact need to pull the cat and trans cross member or can I pull the heat shield above the cat and wrangle it from there ?

Center support bearings: I only recommend OEM or Febi (have had many many many stories [and 2 personal experiences] of Rein and MTC failures). Meyle, is a "meh" acceptable middle-ground as the rubber is a little less robust.

Guibo's: I only recommend OEM or Vaico/Lemforder (all three use SGF for the actual manufacturing and are pulling from the same production line). Again, no Reins or MTC (in fact no MTC or Reinz for ANY rubber part.)

This opinion is current (since part of my job is evaluating and listing these parts). If someone is looking for advice in another ten years, production will have likely changed.

            Hope this helps Jim.

Your experience is invaluable and fortunately is consistent with what Ive ordered.

              Validation noted and appreciated :)
