If you search, you will find lots of contradicting info... some people say you can use the stock i throw out bearing that comes in an i clutch kit, while others (and myself) chose to use the 323i throw out bearing. I made a thread collecting actual measurements and pictures to get to the bottom of the issue here.
TLDR: if you use an i flywheel and clutch assembly with an e transmission for a dual mass flywheel, you need a euro 323i throw out bearing to make up the difference in stack height.

Agreed the easiest thing is to get a single mass from an eta with the reference pin on it already if your car needs it. But I will say that when I converted an 88 seta with a dual mass over to a 325ix single mass flywheel and clutch setup I had ordered a 533i TOB because of the bellhousing depth differences when it arrived it was exactly the same height as the I car TOB I already had but it worked fine, with no clutch travel issues.Shawn @ Bimmerbuddies
