Clutch pedal has too much play

Anybody have any idea why the clutch has so much play? It works fine just has that one inch or so of travel where nothing happens.

Mine has about the same amount of play. You could take a look at the bracket above the clutch that acts as a stop for the clutch and see if there is any way to adjust it or shim it without interfering with the cruise control switch (if your car has cruise)
