Keep up the good work man! I am at an event with the girlfriends family, but I have to be honest, I would rather be wrenching. ;)

That certainly looks bent. At this point you should be able to manipulate the gear selector by hand and see if you can find each gear. If you still can't get it into the 1/2 range, then it's definitely the transmission.

But truth be told, if you are going to replace all the shifter bushings anyway, and have the transmission that close to coming out already, it would probably be easier to just drop it completely to give you easy access to the dreaded 'bitch clip'. Reaching it in the car, even with everything out of the way, is still a real chore.

Right on, and I assume the clip your referring to is the one that holds the linkage mounting bar on top of the tranny as I have flicked that mofo like 100 times to no avail lol.

That's the one. In a moment of rage, I ended up cutting a hole through the floor above the transmission to make an access hatch, after struggling for hours, to get it to release.

That is the first time I have ever confessed that on r3v.

        I'm so sorry.

As much as that is bent it would Def keep it from going into gear all the way.

Try pushing shit selector by hand into all gears. Without twisting selector...if you pull it out towards rear of car...that would be 3rd gear, in, towards the front would be 4th. You're not going to be able to twist selector and pull/push shift selector without putting something through it. R, 1, 3, 5 are all towards the front of car, 2nd and 4th your pulling it towards the rear.

Ok so that wasn't it either, I have torches and metal working tools etc.. so I put the rod back at a double 90 degree and it still does the same thing, it did make the other shifts better lol. So back to pulling it out, I am assuming when the slave went out the previous guy tried to force it in gear and maybe stuck the forks and in the process bent the linkage, heck idk all I know is I'm turning wrenches again tonight.

Poorboyz, you have it backwards. 2nd and 4th are push selector rod in, r,1,3,5 are pull selector out. Turn the selector counter clockwise to be hovering 1st and 2nd. Even further clockwise to hit reverse.

I say go at it with a deadblow to see if it'll go into 2nd

Have you made a purchase from www.blunttech.com recently?

Dang Right! that's right I just got the top starter bolt out without removing the intake and I have average to big hands lol. I am going to take pics when it's daylight and do a wright up on R&R the trans in an eta because there isn't anything real solid on showing you the stupidest starter nut in the world lol. I am also going to take the starter to the shop Monday and it's getting a longer aluminum tube welded in and I'm also going to slap a helix coil in it, this will never happen again, well maybe but not because I didn't try. I am also in a last ditch effort going to smack it a couple times with a dead blow because I don't think I will hurt anything with those forks, and I will be gentle because I would like to try and sell this tranny to someone who needs some good parts ( car only has 118k on it).

Well shucks I can't see the top bolts or top starter nut from the tranny side at all, I lowered the jack holding the tranny and it really didn't even move. Are you guys loosening the motor mounts any to get some travel?

Once you remove trans you could also remove the detent cover, springs and bearings and then hit it with a deadblow.

I found another trick to get more clearance to drop the trans further. On the firewall is your main harness and some other looms running through. I snipped the wire ties off and lifted them out of the way and supported them to the hood via a bungie, I am not stressing them at all just holding them up, now the engine rests on the firewall pad and not the wire looms. This gave me another 1.5"s of drop and now I can see every bolt on the top of the tranny and it's easy pickens with the 3' impact extension :)

The detent cover is the small half of the trans? I would have to pull the guibo mounting flange to do this correct?

No, detent cover is on top of the back case. It's looks like half of a 3 peanut shell.

                                Top left on this picture.

Be careful...there are springs and ball bearings under it.
