    cracked output flange

So I've been tracing down a vibration under load forever.
I think I've found the problem, and I don't know why it took me so long.

The bolt was loose, obviously causing this wear.. but what caused the crack in the output flange?
Also, where can I find a new one? anything I need to buy along with a flange to replace it(seals, lock plates, etc?

That would be more like, "chunked!"

From the wear on the bolt, it looks like the bolt might have
worn most of its way to freedom, and the pounding fractured the ear.

Get it out and apart, and look further...

I found a flange from a friend who'd munched his trans-
and yeah, new lock plate and seal while you're in there.
You need a thin- wall 30mm socket to get the nut off.

    Neat!

It's a good thing BMW installed the optional transparent flange on your car so you could see that the bolt was getting dangerously worn.
