    hard shifting into second

    it is hard for me to shift into 2nd gear on cold starts. after a few minutes of driving the problem fixes itself. is anything wrong?

    I had that and it turned out to be low fluid. Dont know much about the tranny, but that took care of mine.

      thought that was normal overall with the Getrag trannys when cold

        It is normally difficult when cold. Do you even know they last time fluid was changed? If not, drain it and swap it with redline ATF, that will help.

            ATF in a 5spd eh? i should try this...my tranny is a biatch when cold also...

              I used mobile 1 synthetic atf in mine when I had it out, noticed a slight difference.

                how about you guys check out which tranny you have first, some of the transmissions used ATF, some used GL-4 gear oil, and I think even a few used GL-5. putting the wrong fluid in is a great way to buy a new transmission.
