    getrage 260 advice needed

I had recent issue with not being able to select fourth gear. this happened suddenly after a spirited drive. Prior to this I have noticed on hard 2nd gear pull, the clutch would engage but it would have loss of torque and the revs would decrease even with continued WOT. So I went to replace the clutch and find out whats wrong...Tranny mounts worn and sheared, missing bolts at transmission bell housing, drained tranny oil and it was basically dry. and looked like this

With the tranny out, I can still shift through the gears by hand and it spins pretty freely...Now to decide if I should just replace the seals, fill up and put back in or buy a rebuilt one. Not looking to swap to other trannies..

Depends on how much money and time you have

I would put it back in and just find out, but that is because I am a cheap bastard with alot of spare time
If you do reuse the trans there is a very good chance you will still have problems with it, especially shifting into 4th

I would rather not have to change out the tranny again. Was thinking the 4th gear issue might be cuz of worn linkage, mounts. Should I assume the metallic fluid is a sign that something is about to break down.

Your 4th gear shift fork is probably what's making your fluid so shiny- they're aluminum...
