    Transmission Shifter Rod Connector

My car has a lot of play in the shifter when the car is in gear. I checked all of the bushings and everything seemed to be sound. However I think the shifter rod connector stud could be bad. ( the piece that connects the shifter rod to the top of the transmisson. I figured this out when I was checking the linkage for play and this was the only piece that would allow any movement, thus I suspect the rod connection stud. I am not sure how to replace that piece or how difficult it is. I would appreciate some advice.

Also When I looked the piece up online I found a picture and it doesn't look like it would have any place to actually wear down and cause more freedom of movement. I could be wrong their may be some kind of bushing at one or both ends.

that part actually creates alot of play believe it or not, there is a dowl that should be replaced at the same time with it, its not to hard, but the clip takes some fooling around with to get in properly. Easy afternoon job.
