    Tranny ???'s

Hey all, I'm looking to get a 325i/is e30 as my Daily and I have some quick questions for you.

    - Is the manual more reliable than the auto?

My S4 is set up pretty nicely for performance, so this would be just a commuter, but I have a feeling that I might get addicted as usual and start to track it.

well they are reasonably reliable (mine has 180k and shifts fine, despite me beating the shit out of it) but you will wish you had a 5 speed. Of course I guess you could always swap it later if you wanted (which is what I'm doing right now).

Stick is the only way to go if you like to go fast.

Ok, so it's not a reliability thing then.

I love to drive, and that's why I spend every last cent I own on my 6spd S4. But I don't like to rack up 80 work miles a day on my baby. So the e30 would be just for a Daily driver.

I was originaly goint to get a Honda civic or something like that. Just wanted a beater that gets good gas milage. But I saw some e30's at our SoCal Euro meet, and I had to have one as a daily driver. So as long as they are not any less reliable, I really don't care either way. Just trying to find a good car to pass smog.
