    Shift Selector Joint Difference

I have a ZF out of a 95 M3. I ordered a new shift selector joint and it looks different.

The one on my car looks like the one on the left. The new one looks like the one on the right.

Are there any differences or is the new one I purchased a revised unit?

    Thank you for any input.

This usually answers all sorts of questions:

Bushing might be wider not requiring the side washers used in the older linkages.

Yeah, that tool does wonders. Unfortunately it doesn't fit in the trans tunnel too well.

Hoping for an answer before I take my old one off to find out its dimensions are different and have to wait to order a new one.

Just by eyeball, it looks like the later joint is shorter,
which would move your shifter backwards.

Otherwise, I have not seen the later one in person, so try it an' see!

You can always put yours back in, you know... and run around without the
undertray stuff for a few days.

I found out why mine is different. I guess my motor/trans is pre-9/94, therefore the difference in joints. I might end up just using the new style, and buying the correct length DSSR to accommodate.
