How to know if pressure plate needs replacing?

I was gonna be replacing my clutch, (engines out). Haven't separated the trans yet. Was gonna buy a clutch kit, but was thinking maybe the pp could be fine. Then I would just buy a new disk and tob.
Or is it just better practice to replace both at the same time?

Replace both and have your flywheel resurfaced. Also check/replace the plastic pivot ball, spring and fork. These are all low dollar items that are easily replaced now. Don't forget pilot bearing.

Yeah I actually already ordered the low dollar items you mentioned. But was waiting on what to do with the clutch. And resurfacing the flywheel is a denfinate.
