U-joint 'Settling'?

    U-joint 'Settling'?

    While inspecting a driveline from a parts car, I noticed the u-joint at the back (where it mates at the diff) seems to 'settle' in one of the directions.

    That is, it feels like it gently snaps back to the center position, when it's moved through the range of motion in that direction.

    It feels smooth in doing this, so I normally wouldn't think to be alarmed.

    Also, I sort of doubt this is even a range that the driveshaft would normally be operating in, when installed... but that's just a guess.

    Is that normal?

    Sorta. It's technically wearing out, but unless you're having
    vibration issues, it's ok.

    New ones don't do that. But I've used many that did, and never had a problem.
    now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

      idk if this does anything to help but i used to spray lube in there to get it nice and floppy but again, idk how long that lasts.
