So I pulled my M20 and auto trans out last night and first would like to says thanks to everyone that came before me and tackled this job. The engine and trans came out clean without issue on the first try. Well now I have them out and on the ground but not really sure what comes next. I have removed the dozen or so torx bolts and a couple 10mm bolts and thought they would split on there own. I did look in the Bently and it talked about a trans reinforcement plate removal and I believe the torque converter needing to be removed. Its late and I wasn't really reading clearly so called it a night. I am posting this in hopes that someone may have some tips. If not I will reread in the AM and try again tomorrow.

Take the 10mm bolt out of the bell housing that holds the plate to it. Remove the starter and then pull like hell on the trans.

got it. was missing one more torq bolt. Now to get the torque converter off the engine

it's been years but I think you just unbolt it from the torque plate. Then the torque plate unbolts from the crank like a regular flywheel.Comment

got it too. just needed to wiggle it a bit and was able to pull it free
