So I found a guy says he has a trans for my ‘84 318.. Thing is, I’m not sure how to identify that it is in fact what I need.. Can someone point me in the direction of a way to be sure it’s right?

Maybe I should’ve clarified.. I’m (obviously) not sure which car it’s from or it’s vin, I wanted to find out if there was a way to work backward using numbers casted on the trans itself..

But this guy turned out to be pretty stand up, and seems to be a wealth of knowledge, so maybe I can learn something from him so I don’t have to post stupid questions in here anymore 🤷🏻waffles♂️
