Limited Slip with one wheel on Ice

Ive got a 87 325is so it has an lsd but im curious why there is almost no drive when one wheel is on ice while the other has traction. I replaced my differential oil with a redline fluid that has a lsd additive because previously the differential was clunking on slow speed turns. In the dry the inside wheel never seems to spin under acceleration on even the tightest of turns. It wouldnt really bother me except that to get to my garage I have to go up a back alley that is usually half covered with ice and my car struggles making it. Any thoughts?

....makes sense. I checked out the clutchs on bimmerworld.com and it looks like they are 65 a piece. Is this a good deal? Also is it terribly difficult to change out the clutchs and are there any special tools needed?

do not weld the spider gears, parking lots will become 3 point turns, the disks are not bad to replace at all, you don't have to do any shimming. basically R&R.....

lol, a solid diff is not good for handling

Just get one from a junkyard or find a good one here / ebay.

Though Im sure it wouldn't be THAT bad to replace the clutches...

its only a 25% limited slip, so only the wheel with traction will get 25% of the power, and 75 percent of it will go to the wheel on ice, spinning it
