    Clutch that holds power?

Alright, I'm in the process of frying my current clutch and I'm looking for a new disc.

I have a Sachs clutch kit replacement and everything looks great, but you can tell that the reason why it's only rated at 300ft/lbs of torque is the fact that the clutch is sprung and organic. So I figure if I replace the disc with something stronger, I'll be much better off.

So boys and girls, what's the best 228mm clutch disc out there??

The "best" is the right one for your application. The best clutch for a stock or NA car... the stock one.

Have you thought about going to a 240mm stock clutch and flywheel? More holding power with the same drivability. More agressive friction compounds can make the clutch grabbier. This may be the plan for a certain turbo e30 that was in GRM this month.

do you have the standard sachs clutch or the sport? the sachs sport should hold quite a bit more than the standard one. they also have a kevlar version of the sport clutch, and with an HD pressure plate I would think it could hold the power and still be very driveable.

I have the sports kit, which is what was rated at 300ft/lbs of torque, however I have not heard of it's kevlar version.

As for the 240mm clutch... I spoke to Stu about it, however it seems like some modification is required for that. Not only that, the cost of getting a flywheel, clutch/pressure plate, and all that jazz for comfort's sake seems like too much of an extra step if I can get the same grab from a good 228mm disc.

Mind you, this isnt supposed to be a power monster... I just want for it to be able to hold 300-350whp.

I would get the same clutch setup that I have. Sachs 618 sport PP, CLutchnet sprung 6 puck (same as the IE unit only without the mark up since its from the manufacture) and Sachs Sport Throwout bearing. I love it. Perfect for high HP boosted aplications. This clutch would be great for clutch kicking for drifitng as well, since it engages pretty strongly. THe disk is only like 160 or so from clutchnet. You buy the e36 325i clutch. It is the same spline and 228mm..Since they don't offer a e30 clutch.
