    pedal box question

I'm about to do a 5sp swap in my 88 325i vert. Does anyone know if I am going to have to use a 5sp pedal box or will the clutch and brake pedals mount to my pedal box? Thanks,

    Ryan

I think you need the whole pedal assemble, including the box. I don't think the auto box has a place for the clutch pedal. I might be wrong though. Take a look under the dash and see.

I think the pedal box is the same for both variants. The auto just doesn't have the clutch bits installed.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The pedal box is mostly the same. However there is an additional metal plate on the left side of the manual pedal box for non-airbag cars where the return spring for the clutch arm sits.

Fred is right but you can do without that style of return spring .

You can just add the clutch pedal and swap the brake pedal over .
Just add a return spring to the clutch arm and have the other end hook onto the support that runs up under the dash .

I may be making it sound more confusing than it is ....if you need ai can post pics by tonight .

I am guessing that you are saying that you just need to find a solid mounting point for the return spring. A support would be the best choice. Or make a bracket to attach the spring to.
