3k miles = shredded guibo caused by tranny mounts

well, here is a bit of advice when using aftermarket tranny mounts with aluminum cups... make sure their height match the OEM ones or your tanny will sit tilted up if the mounts are too long or tilt down if too short.

The above with too tall of a mount caused my tranny to sit tilted upward and this caused the drive shaft to sit misaligned and to bend the guibo web back and forth with every revolution until it shredded.

The fix was to compare OEM mounts with the aftermarket ones and use spacers between the chassis and the tranny cross brace to lower the tranny and have it sit even as with OEM mounts.

I also reinstalled the drive shaft dampner since these offers some support to the guibo webs as well.

    thanks for the tip.
How is the centering sleeve at the tip of your d/s at the guibo?
If this is bad It allows the shaft to spin off center.

I had replaced all three components, guibo, CSB and centering sleeve back when I did the engine swap 3k miles or so ago. After pulling the driveshaft this wknd to fix the guibo and shim the tranny mounts, I inspected the centering sleeve and it was still good. The little seal inside of it was still round at ~14mm and the offset from the edge of the shaft was ~5mm so it was good. It is incredible how little things like OEM mount height can cause so much damage in just 3k miles.

You did not notice the deflection in the disc when you installed everything?

after spending 10hrs wrenching swapping a motor and it is 2:30 am using a flourecent lamp for light it kinda escaped me that the thing was deflecting. but yeah... lesson learned.
