    DOT-4 Brake fluid for 318is?

Tried a quick search but no luck. I believe I remember using DOT-4 in my m20 e30, is 318is the same?

Yes, DOT 3 and 4 fluids will work in pretty much anything that doesn't require DOT 5 (silicone based). I wouldn't use DOT 5 in any older car though as it can eat your hoses.

ATE Super Blue or Gold ftw.

there is a DOT 5.1 that isn't silicone based and supercedes all DOT 3&4 fluids, Wagner makes it.
I used to use Castrol GTLMA brake fluid but I can't find it any more.

they just have different boiling temps.....DOT 4 boils @ 311cel. and DOT 3 @ 285 cel. I believe...just don't try to ride the brakes down the side of a mountain for 20 miles like my sister did.....

My 1990 325i owner's manual recommends DOT 4 brake fluid. 318i shoud be the same.
